PACS
Picture Archiving and Communications System

The Imaging Department at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center is completely "filmless," meaning images are captured digitally, transmitted and stored in the hospital's Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

PACS is an advanced electronic diagnostic imaging system that allows radiologists on the medical staff to access and review images online and from a remote location — all within seconds after images are taken. Physicians also have the capability to access images from their home or office.

The system can enable quicker turnaround on imaging reports, remote consultation when needed and more efficient care for patients.
